How marketing videos Can dramatically increase your website rankings

If you own a website or you surf the Internet on a regular basis you probably have come across the phenomenon of YouTube videos on the first page of Google when you search your key phrase. Like I have written many times before when Google bought YouTube back in 1996 that was a game changer.  I have seen many times myself almost all of the page 1 of Google filled with YouTube videos.

So my question to you is when are you going to get into the video marketing game. I’m not talking about creating videos for other companies but having videos created for yourself, or you creating videos. Here is a great explainer video that just created for a client of mine, eXmerce, they are a barter company in Western Canada and they wanted a great video, so this is going on their home page to explain exactly what they do and how they do it.

There are many kinds of other videos on the market, there are the nice bouncy fluffy kind that tell people about your company and your website, these are great if you’re looking for a overall professional marketing piece that will allow your clients to know what your company does. There are videos in which you talk, these are great for when you’re trying to tell someone about an event that is coming up.

Here’s a short list I compiled of different types of videos to use and when to use them.

I learned that there are really only seven different types of video marketing videos. It is important to know the difference between them and when to create which type of video.

  3. Demo
  4. Promo
  5. Tips and Tricks
  6. Case Studies
  7. Explainer Can

The About Video

Let’s face it people’s attention span is next to nothing , so most videos should be between a minute and a half to two minutes long.

The Sales Video

Who, what, when, why, your videos should explain why your clients need it, it should answer many of the questions that an average person would have about your product or service.

The Demo Video

Spend the time in this video showcasing your product not promoting it. The demo video is going to showcase your product or service in action. This video can be much longer anywhere from (3-5 minutes) explaining and showing your product or service in action.

This can be that a short infomercial. It should show your product or service fulfilling its purpose and being used by the people your product or service was designed for.

The Promo Video

This video can be up to 15 minutes long. Use more benefits than features. You can break this video up into three major sections. The first segment of your video should be approximately 7 minutes, the middle and the longest segment of your video should last 9 to 11 minutes. And the last segment of your video should be a short act and be about three minutes long.

The Tips and Tricks Video

This is probably the video that will get you the most views as when you’re giving away free information and free education and your providing value to your target market, then they will watch this video a lot more videos.

The Case Study Video

Did you make someone an extra $10,000 this year, case studies are great when you want to showcase the triumphs of your company for your customers. Once again, a case study video should be no more than two minutes in length and should showcase several of your clients, including testimonials are live interviews.

The Teaser Video

You can even use a teaser video when your product or service is still in development. In the teaser video you can hint At a launch date of a new product or service that is coming up. The teaser videos are a great lead up to your promo video.

When to Use Which Type of Video Marketing

I tried to create a brand-new video every single month, either for my company over my clients which I can showcase online on my companies YouTube channel.  The answer is in planning. Determine what promotions you’d like to do each month. If once a month is too often what promotions would you like to do each quarter. To best be able to have the right videos that you need ready when you need them, map out your video marketing strategy and work backwards a year out.
